Old Gala House presents a new exhibition in the gallery ‘Threads’ – By the Society of Scottish Artists

We are pleased to welcome visitors to the Society of Scottish Artists exhibition ‘Threads’ at Old Gala House, opening on Saturday 20 July.

The exhibition showcases selected works of the Society’s members as well as works from invited artist Denise Zygadlo. The art exhibition includes pieces by emerging artists – giving new talent the chance to shine and be recognised – as well as established professionals. The Society of Scottish Artists is one of the oldest and largest artist-led organisations in Scotland, with over 1500 Members based all over the world.

The theme of the exhibition ‘Threads’ serves as a metaphor for the interconnectedness of ideas, cultures, and emotions that form the rich tapestry of our lives. A very significant source of inspiration for this exhibition is ‘The Great Tapestry of Scotland’; a monumental work of art that vividly depicts the country’s history and heritage.

Phoebe Stewart Assistant Curator for Live Borders Museums and Galleries said: “The skill and passion of the artists is reflected in the high quality of work on display. I am sure that visitors will be able to enjoy so many unique works from the wonderful variety of art in this exhibition. This is a show where you will find a tremendous diversity of style, and media on display.”
