Old Gala House celebrates the work of Borders based Artist Ann Louise Kieran

Old Gala House are delighted to host ‘else where somewhere else’  an exhibition of drawings, paintings and objects – the placing of which hopefully conjures up something of a relationship between the individual pieces, the artist and the viewer.

Located in the Laird Gallery at Old Gala House, paintings and large scale collaged drawings incorporate a recurring and an imagined floral motif.  A faded yet present symbol, perhaps a memorial or an offering, these drawings are necessarily time based; made, unmade and remade through careful engagement and application of ink/collage to create a visual and emotional balance.

Ann Louise Kieran states: “I’m really happy to have the opportunity to show work at Old Gala House. Having moved to The Borders three years ago, it’s my first solo exhibition in the region. Working towards this exhibition has definitely increased an awareness and appreciation of place, and given me a stronger sense of belonging. Many thanks to Live Borders and to VACMA, which helped to fund the development of new work”.
