New CEO at Live Borders to be recruited

A recruitment campaign has been launched to find a new Chief Executive Officer at Live Borders.

Someone with a proven track record in delivering transformational change is being sought, as the successful candidate will help lead the charity and drive forward changes to ensure it becomes more financially sustainable and continues to deliver high quality sport, leisure and cultural services to local people and visitors.

The previous permanent CEO Ewan Jackson retired at the end of 2023, with the post filled on an interim basis since then. Jill Franks is the current interim CEO.

Vice Chair of the Live Borders Board, Councillor Neil Richards, said: “This is a tremendous opportunity for someone to come in at a really important time for Live Borders and lead the organisation and staff through the remainder of the joint transformational change programme.

“This programme is essential to the future of sport, leisure and cultural services across the Borders and to ensuring that Live Borders can deliver these in a financially sustainable way whilst still meeting the needs of residents and helping to drive tourists to the area.

“There’s no doubt that there are some challenges to be faced, but this is a really important role and is a great chance for someone new to come in and put their stamp on Live Borders and work with an experienced and passionate workforce to make the Borders healthier, happier and stronger.”

The closing date for applications is 14 April. Interviews are expected to take place towards the end of April. A starting date for the successful applicant will depend on any notice period.

Four new independent trustees and two employee representatives are also joining the Live Borders board this month, with a new independent chair to be appointed at the board meeting on 31 March.
