Live Borders Big Swim Day Attracts over 600 people to swimming pools across the region

Live Borders opened up all their pools on Saturday 14 September free of charge to encourage more people to come and enjoy the facilities, have fun with family and friends and make new connections.

A range of activities from family swimming, fun float sessions, lane swimming, inflatable fun, and open swim sessions attracted an impressive 645 participants across the Borders.

A spokesperson for Live Borders stated:

“Swimming is a fantastic way to keep yourself fit and healthy, and is really good for mental wellbeing. Our pools have so much to offer and this was a chance to attract new people to the pools and showcase the wide range of activities we have for every age group.

“We have AquaFit sessions which are suitable for people of all ages and use water resistance to help build fitness and confidence, we have swim discos, Toddler times as well as family and fun sessions, birthday parties – and of course swimming lessons with our Learn to Swim programme.

“Live Borders operates six swimming pools across the Borders, all of which offer great value membership for swimming, as well as fully inclusive gym and fitness class memberships.

“Everyone had a great time, and we hope some will join as members and become more regular visitors.”

People interested in swimming or membership can contact their local pool and a member of staff will be happy to help them.
