The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner 200th Anniversary Exhibition
A rare first edition novel, original letters, the shepherd’s plaid, shepherd’s Crook, and a James Hogg ‘Death Mask’ cast are among highlights in a display about James Hogg, poet, writer and shepherd. To mark the 200th anniversary, Live Borders’ curatorial team will also present talks and stories connected to Hogg and his literary contemporaries, with Rantin’ Rovin’ Romantics themed events taking place between May and October 2024. Programme includes accessible and entertaining talks with readings from the literature of Scott, Hogg and their contemporaries, as well as ‘Show and tell’ presentations with insights into selected treasures from the museum and archive collections. All events take place at Sir Walter Scott’s Courtroom, Selkirk.
