A Love of Nature – Rose Hughes @ Hawick Museum
A Love of Nature – Rose Hughes @ Hawick Museum
Rose’s deep love of nature was nurtured during her early years in the Suffolk countryside and later in South Wales.
She moved to the Borders in the early 1980s where her passion for painting was reignited. Her earliest works were in watercolour featuring delicate flower studies. Her focus then moved to larger watercolours of garden scenes and landscapes. Later she began using pastels and acrylics before moving on to oils.
Themes in her paintings include landscapes, seascapes and birds, as well as the flower studies for which she is best known.
A memorial celebration in her honour will be held during the exhibition on Wednesday 13 September, 4–6pm
