Gentle Movement
Our Gentle Movement classes offer combinations of slow deliberate movements with a focus on breath and meditation based on the practice of Qigong (pronounced CHEE-gung) and are delivered by our qualified volunteers.
Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice that was developed as a traditional medicine. The movements are designed to optimise energy within the body to improve and maintain health and wellbeing.
The benefits of Gentle Movement and particularly Qigong include the following:
- Improved mental health.
- Improved quality of life
- Qigong can have an analgesic effect, reducing the perception of pain and increasing pain tolerance.
- Reduction in falls
- Strengthens mind-body connection.
- Can improve sleep with regular practice.
As our Gentle Movement classes are part of our Health Programme a referral from your health professional is required in order to attend.
The classes cost just £2.50 or are free with the Exercise Referral membership.
