Creating live events for everyone
Borders Young Creatives
Borders Young Creatives was a young promoter’s scheme, aimed at young people aged 16-24 from across the Scottish Borders. The project provides training and mentoring so that the young people can become promoters influencing the type of arts events happening in their own communities. The project includes a ‘Go & See’ fund which enables participants to gain inspiration & further their knowledge and understanding of how events are run.
This film shows a snapshot of Borders Young Creatives. Showing interviews with the young people and footage from meetings & live events it highlights everything that has been achieved.
The project started in September 2018 cumulating with the Autumn 2019 program, of which 6 events were programmed by the group. With a large increase in audience figures it was a huge success, largely due to the commitment and drive of the young people involved under the guidance of Ayliffe Rose, Youth Arts Mentor.
As part of the project the young received training to become promoters, they have put together this film sharing their skills and experience as a guide to others to have a go.
The young people have also achieved their Bronze Arts Awards and undertaken placements within the arts. They have been able to develop new skills build friendships and discover opportunities available to them within the arts. The project has hugely increased their confidence and self-belief, helping them to become strong, happy individuals.
Border Young Creatives is supported by Creative Scotland and the Scottish Borders LEADER Programme.
