Alma Dowle - trees and sun

Halliwells House Celebrates the Work of Ettrick based Artist Alma Dowle

Halliwell’s House in Selkirk invite you to their Summer exhibition “In My Element” which features well-known local artist Alma Dowle. A beautiful exhibition that takes inspiration from nature, showcasing a series of landscapes and still life using watercolours, inks and fine pen. Dowle also has selection of ceramics using a wheel as well as handmade pottery hens, owls and much more.

Artist Alma Dowle said: “I am looking forward to sharing my water colours of magical trees, landscapes and seascapes. Also flowers gathered from our garden in my favourite old jugs often found in charity shops. My ceramics will include hens which can be safely kept in the garden, as well as owls, candle sticks and other creations which I hope you will enjoy seeing as much as I did making them.”

Phoebe Stewart Assistant Curator for Live Borders Museums and Galleries said: “This exhibition is visually beautiful and there is something for everyone to enjoy. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to curate this show and connect people to nature through Dowle’s artworks and ceramics.”

Catriona Bradshaw Live Borders Museum & Galleries Assistant said:  “It is wonderful to be hosting this exhibition ‘In my Element’ at Halliwell’s House Museum showcasing Alma Dowle. Her work is delicate and has ethereal nuances in her paintings, really lovely”.
