Shirley Johnson- Look A Little Closer @ Old Gala House

Look a Little Closer… is a new exhibition coming to Old Gala House in Summer 2023.  

 Shirley is an American artist living and working in Scotland. Born and raised in New York, in a family full of artists and musicians, art became an important way to tell a story and connect with people.  

 Much of Shirley’s work takes inspiration from the every day and finding solace in little moments. 

People form an important role in her work and looking at what is beyond the surface: “Some pretend to be fine on the outside, when indeed we may not be. It costs nothing to stop and look, really look, and really see someone and in turn, be seen. My work invites the viewer to just, Look a Little Closer…”
