Access to Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum

Jedburgh Castle Jail & Museum is a tourist attraction located in the historic town of Jedburgh, in the Scottish Borders.

Jedburgh Castle Jail gives visitors a taste for life in a nineteenth century prison. The town museum is also housed here in the Jailer’s Block.

ASSISTANCE DOGS

We welcome guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs. ID Badge must be shown.

PARKING

There are is an on-site car park located at the rear of the building which has two dedicated spaced for ‘disabled badge holders’.

PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY

There is level access to the main entrance. There are small steps up and down from some of the blocks. There is a stair access only to the upper floors of all the blocks across the complex. There is a video tour of the jail and Mary Queen of Scots’ Visitor Centre located in a room opposite the welcome desk.

ACCESS FOR BUGGIES

Buggies are welcomed in the museum. We have baby changing facilities in the accessible toilet. Some doorways are narrow, see our access guide for full information.

PEOPLE WHO ARE VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Registered guide dogs are welcomed in the museum.

PEOPLE WHO ARE HEARING IMPAIRED

We have a hearing loop available at the welcome desk and we also welcome hearing dogs.
